Hitching a Trailer Using Artificial Intelligence

Ford is introducing industry-first technology ‘Pro Trailer Hitch assist’. This will be exclusively for the Ford F-Series (available for F-150, F-150 Lightning, and all new F-Series Super Duty).
Pairing a truck and trailer can be difficult, so Ford has used artificial intelligence to make it not so difficult. Rear camera and corner radars help tp align the hitch with the trailer coupler while still controlling the trucks speed, steering, and braking. This allows the truck to stop at the right time in the right place.
F-150 customers are able to use onboard scales to gauge how much they are hauling. This measures and displays approximate weight of the payload. The information is displayed on the center touch screen presenting the truck or with smart taillamps. Smart taillamps displays the payload capacity percentage by illuminations LEDS.
Ford has released two videos to better explain the ‘Pro Trailer Hitch Assist’
“Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is another smart solution to save time for our customers. Instead of struggling to hitch a trailer alone or with a spotter, customers can now get hitched more confidently and on their way to the lake or a jobsite.”(John Emmert, Ford Truck General Manager)
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist available on Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning and Super Duty. For conventional hitching only. Functionality varies by model. See owner’s manual for important operating instructions.
