The 2020 Ford Explorer has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ award. Top Safety Pick+ is the Institute’s highest possible safety award.
 
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick+ award criteria includes six crashworthiness tests as well as ensuring minimum “acceptable or good” headlight ratings on vehicles that must come equipped with advanced driver-assist technologies that can help avoid or reduce a collision.

The 2020 Ford Explorer and the 2020 Ford Edge have been named on Car and Drivers Mid-Size Crossover & SUV ranking list. The list ranks 22 Crossovers and SUVs based on their performance and available features. 

 

The 2020 Ford Explorer was ranked number 9 on the list thanks to its available features including the optional hybrid drivetrain, new third-row access system, and an 8-inch touchscreen that is capable of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2020 Ford Explorer ST Surpassing Expectations & Return of the XLT Sport Package

The 2020 Ford Explorer ST continues to surpass sales expectations while attracting new customers. The ST accounts for 21% of overall Explorer sales. This is helping Explorer retain its title as Americas all-time best-selling SUV.
 
In January, Ford sold its 8 millionth Explorer, a milestone no other SUV can claim. “Ford changed the game three decades ago with the civilized, all-purpose utility vehicle refined with easy-to-use electronic 4x4 controls and luxury packages like the Eddie Bauer edition,” said Craig Patterson, Ford SUV marketing manager.
